Kids display
their artistic talent on bread instead of a canvas
and then eat the results! The colors are brighter
and the texture is more pleasing if the bread is lightly
toasted after it is painted. It tastes great with
a light glaze of applesauce or butter.
Preparation
Time is only 10 minutes
What
you will need
2
tablespoons (about 2 ounces) of milk for each color
Food coloring
1 slice of white bread per child (choose a hearty
white bread)
Small cups (2-3 ounce)
Clean cotton swabs or brand-new paint brushes

Wash
hands and get all the ingredients out. |

Decide
what colors you want to use for your painting.

Pour
2 tablespoons of milk into a small cup for each
color. Add two drops of food coloring to each
cup for red, blue, yellow and green. If children
want other colors, such as purple, follow directions
on the back of the food color package.

Give
child a piece of bread on a plate.

Paint
a picture on the slice of bread with colored milk.
Draw faces, scenes, abstract designs or anything
you want. Note to parents: Emphasize that this
is NOT real paint!

Lightly toast bread. Glaze with butter or applesauce
if desired.
